Inpatient rehab provides around-the-clock care and structured support to allow for a deep focus on healing without the triggers and distractions of daily life. Sana Lake has the highest-rated inpatient rehab center in Missouri according to Google reviews.
If getting and staying sober feels impossible, inpatient rehab can help. The process starts by addressing the physical addiction, so you feel good. Then, you tackle the mental, spiritual and lifestyle changes that help you stay well – including treatment of related issues like anxiety or trauma.
Inpatient rehab integrates many different types of treatment to address every aspect of addiction. Medical treatments are combined with psychological therapies and wellness activities to learn to build a well-rounded, healthy, happy lifestyle.
Medications rebalance the brain to make withdrawal easier, stop cravings and help with underlying issues (ie. antidepressants), if needed.
Work through hard issues including guilt, trauma and self-esteem to see view the past and future with new perspective.
Connect with people who fully understand and learn from their stories and feedback, guided by a Masters-Level therapist.
Activities like yoga, fishing, meditation and mindfulness therapy prevent stress, anxiety and burnout.
Nutrition and sleep education, exercise options (gym, frisbee golf, volleyball, basketball) and journaling practices to help you build a healthly life.
Intense exercises including identifying triggers and healthier responses to help keep you sober long-term even if you have a slip.
Friendships made here are a reminder that you're not alone and keep you accountable long after you leave, including the Alumni Support resource.

This was my first attempt at recovery and this treatment center is like no other. I was welcomed with open arms and never once felt judged or shamed. In residential I not only worked on recovery, but their therapists and peers were able to help me deal with past trauma and grief.
Without the continuous care and support from the staff, I don't think I would have lasted more than a couple of months. I was drinking purposely to die. Every single day I use the tools and coping skills I learned at Sana Lake. I would not be the woman I am today without them!
I went to another rehab years ago and hated it, it felt like jail! Sana was different. There's a full schedule every day with something you can use that focuses on mind, body and soul. They deal with the mental health of addiction and teach you to handle life after leaving.
Staff are attentive, friendly and informative! Also, very knowledgeable of the latest treatment aspects for recovery. Very pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. The property is beautiful and clean.
People come from across Missouri to the Sana Lake inpatient rehab. It’s not a jail sentence or a hospital. The facilities sit on 55 lakefront acres to provide the ideal mix of privacy and relaxation.

Outpatient options are good for some situations (we offer that here too). Consider inpatient residential rehab if:
Alcohol or Benzodiazepines (ie. Xanax) are involved; withdrawals can be fatal and outpatient is often not a safe option

You're ready to do anything to feel better
Going to rehab is never an easy decision. There are plenty of reasons why we want to put it off. But, for most people, it’s the only thing that will turn their life around.
Yes, detox services are available at the same campus to manage withdrawal symptoms as your body clears drugs and alcohol from your system. Medical professionals monitor you 24/7 to keep you safe and keep you comfortable.
Detox tends to last the first 3-10 days, depending on the type of substance and the severity of the addiction. As soon as you’re feeling physically better, you start residential rehab.
Without feeling physically better and rebalancing your brain, you can’t focus on the deep mental work that happens during residential rehab to stabilize your mind too. If you’re ready to stop feeling sick, call (314) 664-9931.
A typical day in rehab follows a schedule that includes therapy sessions, group meetings, wellness practices and leisure time.
A typical morning starts with an open gym and breakfast cooked for you. Then, you might work on goal-setting, gratitude exercises and mind-body wellness like yoga or meditation practice.
You’ll do intense small group and individual therapy sessions. There are also specific psychoeducation sessions like unmasking emotions, finding your voice, coping with cravings and family dynamics. Specialty therapies like art, music and fitness helps you unlock suppressed feelings. You’ll also plan for real support for after you leave – including continued outpatient therapy and an introduction to support groups and Members 4 Life.
There is also time to relax and process the intense feelings. The facility has volleyball and basketball courts, paddle boats, fishing equipment, frisbee golf and a library to help prevent burnout. It also helps you bond with peers who can support you long after you leave.
We celebrate graduations, call home, eat nutritious meals and remain fully immersed in our recovery.
You’ll leave feeling better and happier than you ever thought possible.
Yes, family involvement is often encouraged to rebuild relationships, create a supportive environment and educate loved ones about addiction.
Ultimately, each patient decides if they want their family directly involved with individualized family therapy sessions during inpatient rehab. There are also dedicated timeslots on the weekends for family visits.
Sana Lake also has a program called New Dawn for families to get their own support, education and therapy. Families can participate even if their loved one is not in rehab. The family program can even help families advocate for their loved one to seek inpatient rehab. Getting your own help sets a positive example of self-care.
Drug and alcohol issues impact the whole family and New Dawn helps families understand what to do, how to communicate effectively and how to focus on your own life and happiness, even if your loved one continues to struggle. Call (314) 664-9931 to learn more about the family program.
The whole treatment process lasts as long as you need. Most insurance companies only cover inpatient care for around 30 days, which is how long most patients stay. During that time, patients transition from detox to residential rehab to on-campus PHP.
After inpatient rehab, IOP or other outpatient treatment options can help and be continued for months or even years. There is no one-size-fits-all timeframe. The research shows the longer you stay involved in some kind of treatment, the more likely you are to stay sober long-term.
