Drug overdoses have continued to be an epidemic in Missouri over the past decade. According to research by the Missouri Health and Senior Services (DHSS), in 2020, Missouri ranked 32nd among all states for drug overdose death rates and is the number one leading cause of death among adults aged 18-44 in Missouri. Research shows, that most drug overdose deaths (over 70%) do involve opioids, including heroin, fentanyl, methadone, morphine, oxycodone, and many other prescription drugs.

Luckily, for those who are suffering, there are treatment options available to them throughout the state of Missouri. More good news. More and more private insurance companies are helping to cover the cost of drug and alcohol addiction treatment. One of those companies is Mercy Health.

At Sana Lake Recovery, we are proud to work with Mercy Health to get their clients the help that they need at little to no out-of-pocket cost to them. Some of the services that Mercy Health insurance plans cover include:

On this page, you will find more information about your Mercy Health insurance plan and how it pertains to the services that we offer at Sana Lake Recovery.

Mercy Health Insurance

What Is Mercy Health Insurance?

Mercy Health is one of the largest healthcare systems in the country, catering mostly to those in the Ohio and Kentucky region. In 2016, Mercy Health allied with various drug and alcohol treatment centers to create a network that allows their clients access to the help that they need if they are suffering from substance abuse and/or mental health conditions.

At Sana Lake Recovery we are proud to accept all Mercy Health insurance plans. If you are unsure what exactly your plan covers you can reach out to your insurance representative or you can contact us and we will go over your policy and let you know what is and isn’t covered before you begin treatment.

Will Mercy Care Insurance Cover My Detox Treatment?

Before addiction treatment can begin, the first step is to undergo detox treatment. Detoxing is done to rid the body of any harmful substances so that the body and brain can begin the healing process. Detoxing can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks depending on the substance or substances and the severity of the addiction.

Due to the way the body reacts to the detox process and the withdrawal symptoms associated with detoxing, it is very important that detoxing be done under the constant care and supervision of trained medical professionals. This can be done at either a local medical facility, a dedicated detox center, or a treatment center that also offers detox services such as Sana Lake Recovery. Attempting to self-detox can be dangerous and even life-threatening.

Detox Treatment Mercy Care Insurance

Mercy Care insurance understands just how crucial detox is to the overall addiction treatment process. That’s why they cover detox treatment for a variety of different substances of abuse including opiates, opioids, and alcohol.

If you are unsure if your Mercy Health policy covers detox treatment, you can always reach out to your insurance representative or you can contact us at Sana Lake. We will take a look at your insurance policy and let you know what it covers and if there will be any out-of-pocket expenses before you begin detox treatment.

Does Mercy Care Insurance Cover Inpatient Treatment?

Once detox treatment has been completed, the next step is to enter into an addiction treatment program. The two main types of addiction programs are inpatient and outpatient.

Residential treatment also known as inpatient treatment is the preferred program option for most medical professionals due in large part to the fact that the person lives at the facility for the duration of their treatment in a structured setting where they can be monitored. Inpatient treatment also provides services that outpatient doesn’t include such as access to around-the-clock medical attention and care.

While many insurance plans do cover inpatient treatment, not all of them do and some require that certain criteria be met. If you are unsure if your Mercy Health plan covers inpatient treatment, feel free to reach out to us at Sana Lake or your insurance representative. We will take a look at your policy and see what it covers. We will also discuss any out-of-pocket expenses that you might be responsible for before treatment begins.

Is Outpatient Treatment Covered?

In some cases, inpatient treatment just isn’t the right fit. Some people can’t or don’t want to live at the facility while they undergo treatment. They might have commitments that don’t allow them the ability to do so. Others might not require the around-the-clock monitoring and care that inpatient treatment provides.

For people who can’t or don’t want to enter inpatient treatment, the next best option is outpatient treatment. Outpatient involves many of the same components such as therapies and counseling sessions. The difference is, though, that you come to the facility for your therapies and treatments and then return to your regular life. Since there is no need for housing or extra care, outpatient treatment tends to cost a lot less. If you choose the outpatient route, you must have a  strong support system at home.

Since the cost of outpatient is less than inpatient, many insurance companies are more likely to sign off on outpatient treatment. Your Mercy Health insurance plan likely covers outpatient treatment and might even cover it in full. If you are curious about the coverage you have as it pertains to outpatient treatment or has any other questions as it pertains to substance abuse treatment, you can reach out to either your insurance representative or us at Sana Lake.

What Other Services Does Mercy Health Cover?

Not everyone that needs treatment falls into the outpatient or inpatient categories. Some might be suffering from a mental health issue or even those who suffer from a mental health issue AND a substance abuse issue, also known as a co-occurring disorder. For those people, a partial hospitalization program might be best for them.

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides more access to medical care and treatment but still allows the person to go home at the end of the day. It’s a middle ground between inpatient and outpatient treatment.

At Sana Lake, we also offer a wide variety of mental health and therapy services in addition to addiction treatment. And, the good news for you, is that your Mercy Health insurance plan might cover some if not all of the expenses associated with it. Some of these treatments and therapies include:

If you are unsure if your insurance plan will cover any of these therapies and treatments, feel free to contact us at Sana Lake. We will take a look at your insurance plan and let you know what is and isn’t covered before you come in. We will also let you know if there will be any out-of-pocket expenses on your end and how much they will be.

Is Mercy Care Insurance In-Network?

At Sana Lake Recovery, we are proud to work with Mercy Health and accept their insurance as part of our in-network program. That means that you can come and get the treatment you need at little or even no cost to you.

If you do incur any out-of-pocket expenses we will work with you to make sure that it is an amount you can afford. We don’t want money to be the reason why someone doesn’t get the help that they need.
