Addiction Treatment in O'fallon FAQs

Contacting Sana Lake gives you the opportunity to transform your life—right now. Don’t hesitate; take your first step toward drug or alcohol addiction recovery today by getting your questions answered without judgment or commitment.

Like treatment for other chronic diseases such as heart disease or asthma, addiction treatment provides as many tools are possible to successfully manage the condition.
The first step is to stop physical withdrawals, which is nothing like “white-knuckling” it. You’re kept safe and comfortable the whole time with 24/7 medical support.

The next step is to get to the core of your individual issue. Many people have underlying diagnoses like depression, anxiety or PTSD that contribute to staying stuck. Others struggle with feelings like boredom, self-esteem or shame. Once the triggers are identified, the next step is to get the tools to stop the cycle of substance use.

The specific tools that work vary for each person. Sometimes couples counseling helps. Others find journaling and meditation habits change their whole perspective. For some, medications are a game-changer — whether antidepressants to rebalance the brain or Vivitrol a monthly injection that helps some patients stop drug and alcohol cravings.
In addition, you set up relapse prevention plans, build a support network, and learn skills to redirect negative thoughts.

If you’ve not tried treatment before, it’s nothing to be scared of. It’s not jail or a hospital. It’s a systematic, yet fully personalized approach to finally feeling better.

The programs last as long as you need. It usually takes 3-10 days for substances to leave your system, so that is how long detox lasts. Between inpatient residential rehab and an on-campus Partial-Hospital Program (PHP), insurance usually covers around 30 days. (Outpatient PHP is also available here while living at home or in sober living).

Outpatient options are always helpful. An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) typically lasts 6-9 weeks, but weekly outpatient therapy can be continued as long as needed or when triggers come up.

Support meetings, sober events and peer coaching is available to you for free forever.
Generally, the longer you stay in treatment, the longer you have the support to stay well. However, it’s your treatment. Stay enrolled as long as you need.

Yes, all Sana Lake treatment centers provide comprehensive care for individuals struggling with opioid addiction. We offer specialized programs designed to address dependencies on common opioids such as heroin, oxycodone, hydrocodone, morphine and fentanyl. Our approach includes medically supervised detox, personalized therapy and ongoing support to ensure effective treatment and recovery from opioid dependence.

Our approach to relapse prevention is comprehensive and proactive, focusing on education, personalization and continuous support.

Members identify their specific triggers and develop strategies to alter both their life circumstances and thought processes to prevent the initiation of the relapse process.
Members learn about the stages and signs of relapse, helping them recognize early warning signs and intervene before a relapse escalates to substance use.

Additionally, members create a robust action plan in place should a relapse occur, ensuring that each person knows exactly what steps to take to return to recovery swiftly. Members are encouraged to involve supportive family members in their recovery plan if they choose.

Beyond treatment, members can access lifelong support through sober events, support meetings and a peer recovery coach available via call or text at any time, ensuring our members have continuous support should they start to experience a slip at any time.

There’s not one “right” treatment option. Every circumstance is different.

The most effective process is to combine all the treatment programs together, starting with inpatient detox and rehab and continuing through outpatient as long as needed.

That said, the right option for you is whatever helps you most right now. You don’t have to commit to anything other than showing up.

Here’s a detailed 7-point guide for selecting the right treatment center.

Joint Commission Accreditation
The Joint Commission’s gold seal signifies the pinnacle of healthcare standards. This non-profit rigorously assesses the quality of care during the initial review and ensures ongoing excellence through spontaneous evaluations. Only 20% of centers attain this level, showcasing their elite status.

Online Reviews
A trustworthy center will feature numerous positive online reviews across various platforms. While occasional negative feedback is normal for any large organization, consistently positive reviews are key indicators of quality.

Comprehensive Treatment
Top facilities address every facet of an individual’s condition, including physical, mental, and spiritual health, tailoring their clinical therapies to individual needs. Essential services might include anti-craving medications, dual-diagnosis treatment for underlying conditions like anxiety, and comprehensive stress management techniques.

Clinician Qualifications
Qualified clinicians should have formal education and certifications in relevant fields, such as psychology or social work, with extensive field experience. Ideally, a multidisciplinary team will collaborate to support your recovery.

Aftercare Planning
Quality centers provide substantial post-treatment support. Effective aftercare plans are customized to include a range of supportive measures from transitional housing to ongoing outpatient services.

Family Involvement
Engaging family in the treatment process can enhance the likelihood of successful recovery. It’s important that the facility provides appropriate family support while ensuring that interactions are helpful rather than harmful.

In-Network
Choosing an in-network treatment center means any cost to you will be as low as possible. It also means the center is trusted by the insurance company, providing another layer of oversight.
