When I got to SL I was a mess and my team...each and every one of you should know how much you took care of me. I'm so happy to have known y'all. This is truly one of the greatest places I've ever been...❤️
Sana lake and staff have been incredible with my journey to recovery!!! This place saved my life!! They have balanced care from in-patient through post-care.
Sana Lake is the best treatment center I’ve been to. From the moment I walked in the door, I was shown compassion & love. The aftercare is one of a kind with Members 4 Life. This woman now has 16 plus months clean 😁 I’ll forever be grateful.

What are the different addiction treatment options available?
Sana Lake offers all proven addiction treatment options in the St. Louis area, which include:
- Detoxification (Detox): A medically supervised process to manage withdrawal symptoms and clear substances from the body.
- Inpatient Rehab: Intensive 24/7 care in a residential setting, focusing on getting to the core of the negative behaviors.
- Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): Structured treatment during the day with flexibility to return home or stay on campus at night.
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): Less intensive than PHP, allowing patients to attend therapy sessions several times a week while living at home or in sober living.
- Outpatient Treatment: Regular therapy sessions that allow individuals to live at home and maintain work or school schedules.
After treatment, extended care options including sober living, medications, family therapy and the Members 4 Life alumni program are available as needed to help sustain the foundation for recovery.
The treatment and extended care options can be combined and adjusted to fit individual needs and stages of recovery.
How do you tailor treatment to individual needs?
Tailoring treatment to individual needs involves a thorough assessment and personalized care plans.
- Initial Assessment: A comprehensive evaluation of medical history, substance use, mental health and personal circumstances.
- Personalized Treatment Plan: Developing a plan that includes specific therapies, medications and support systems based on the assessment and your feedback.
- Continuous Monitoring: Regular check-ins and adjustments to the treatment plan as needed to ensure it remains effective.
The key to personalizing treatment is having a diverse range of therapies and holistic options that address different aspects of addiction and co-occurring disorders.
For example, not everyone needs couples counseling. Not everyone will find fitness training as a good outlet. And, not everyone needs or wants anti-craving medications like Vivitrol.
We have all the options here, so you can take what works for you.
What is your approach to relapse prevention?
Relapse prevention is a critical component of addiction treatment, including:
- Education: Learning about the stages and warning signs of relapse to recognize and address them early.
- Therapy Sessions: Identifying your specific thoughts, behaviors and triggers that lead to the negative cycles.
- Coping Strategies: Developing healthy coping mechanisms for dealing with stress, triggers and cravings.
- Support Systems: Building a strong network of support, including peer groups and family members when possible.
- Aftercare Plans: Detailed plans for continuing care post-treatment, including outpatient therapy, sober living and support meetings.
- Medications: Using anti-craving medications like Vivitrol to reduce the risk of relapse.
Sana Lake puts more emphasis on relapse prevention planning and after-treatment care than other treatment centers. This comprehensive Focus helps you handle challenges effectively and maintain sobriety long-term.
Is the family involved in treatment?
Healing family relationships, rebuilding trust and learning how to effectively support each other can be life-saving in addiction treatment.
While it is never a requirement, if you are interested, you can involve your family by including in your treatment plan:
- Family Therapy or Couples Counseling: Sessions that involve family members to address issues and improve communication and support.
- Visitation: If in inpatient care, there is the option for family visits on the weekend.
Families that are struggling to see someone they love struggling may need their own support to deal with resentment, anger or stress. Whether their loved one is in treatment at Sana Lake or not, families are able to access the family program, which includes:
- Education: Providing information and resources to help families better understand addiction and recovery.
- Support Groups: Offering family support groups to connect with others in similar situations.
- Counseling: Delivering individual counseling for family members to deal with their own emotions and challenges.
What is sober living?
Sober living homes are residential facilities that provide a structured, substance-free environment to support recovery.
Key aspects include:
- Safe Environment: A place free from drugs and alcohol to reduce temptation and triggers.
- Peer Support: Living with others who are also in recovery, offering mutual support and accountability.
- Structured Routine: Rules and schedules that promote responsibility and healthy living habits.
- Life Skills Development: Opportunities to develop skills like budgeting, job searching, and cooking to prepare for independent living.
- Continued Therapy: Access to ongoing therapy and support groups to maintain focus on recovery (transportation included).
Sober living helps individuals transition from intensive treatment to everyday life while maintaining sobriety.
Why are there facilities in Affton?
Affton has been significantly impacted by drug and alcohol issues, much like the rest of St. Louis County. In fact, around 7.4% of residents over 12 years old in St. Louis County struggle with substance use disorders, higher than the national average of 6.5%. And, in the latest reported data, St. Louis County had the highest number of opioid overdose deaths in Missouri, accounting for 21.2% of the state’s total opioid-related deaths.
