What is Alcohol Use Disorder?
According to the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a brain disorder “characterized by an impaired ability to stop or control alcohol use despite adverse social, occupational, or health consequences.” AUD is commonly referred to as alcoholism or alcohol abuse.

Is Alcohol Use Disorder treatable?
Yes! People can and do recover from AUD. Individuals who seek professional help typically have the highest success rate and the lowest rate of return to use. As alcohol withdrawal is very dangerous, and can even be life-threatening, if your AUD is considered severe it is strongly recommended to seek professional medical help.
Does Sana Lake offer treatment for AUD?
Sana Lake Recovery offers a variety of options for alcohol use disorder treatment, including inpatient detox and residential care, medication assisted treatment, behavioral therapies, and various levels of outpatient services. Sana Lake also believes in the power of a supportive recovery community, which is why we offer a free alumni program called Members for Life, which hosts fun events and fellowship weekly.
